Semper Pro Musica – Adjudication at Baylor University

On January 20, 2026, I will serve as adjudicator for Baylor University’s Semper Pro Musica Competitions in Waco, Texas. This event identifies the top performers who will appear at the Semper Pro Musica – Carnegie Hall Recital on May 21, 2026, at Weill Recital Hall in New York City. The competition includes soloists across piano, strings, voice, brass, woodwinds, and percussion. In addition, it features chamber groups preparing 20–30 minutes of approved repertoire.

Competition Structure

The First Round is organized by each performance area at Baylor. However, only a limited number of students may advance to the Final Round. Piano may advance two competitors; strings two; voice three; brass one; woodwinds one; and percussion one. Moreover, finalists must prepare memorized repertoire for the Carnegie performance.

The Final Round takes place on February 7, 2026, in Jones Concert Hall. Competitors must submit five bound copies of their score by January 21 at noon. Therefore, students who advance must complete all score requirements to be eligible for the New York performance.

Carnegie Hall Recital

Three solo winners will travel to New York. Baylor University covers travel and hotel expenses. In addition, winners from the chamber and organ divisions will also appear in associated New York events.
